Shantell and I helped Sala answer her prom invitation. Apparently a simple yes was not quite enough, so we made a little Potential Date Assessment instead. He has to pass the tests before getting his answer. 🙂
It is a Portal-themed set of web pages with typed-out instructions, passwords, and a few different challenges. I used jQuery and a typing-effect plugin for the presentation. Each password page asks a PHP script to check the answer, and a correct response tells the browser which page comes next.
Breaking it into separate pages made it easy to give each test its own joke and pacing without turning the whole thing into one giant script. The Portal graphics and audio are Valve’s, not mine. Our part was putting the little assessment together for Sala. A fairly silly use of HTML and JavaScript, which is probably why it was so much fun.
